Abstract
The article presents and examines what has been called a disturbing step of Bacon’s thought, in which the redemption and restoration of lost paradise are no longer expected from faith in Jesus Christ, but from the newly discovered link between science and praxis and therefore from faith in progress. After analyzing the expectation (almost) religious that the new science of nature awakens in Bacon, no stranger to the Rosicrucian Enlightenment environments, the article deals with the aspects of his thought which allow this change of the subject of hope: a new concept of method, a new concept of truth, a new concept of man and a paradoxical theological justification of secularization of hope in Bacon’s philosophy.
