Abstract

Los mundos posibles distópicos se caracterizan por la ausencia casi absoluta de componentes ficcionales relacionados con el amor, lo que los convierte en intransitables e inhabitables. El mundo posible de El cuento de la criada, de Margaret Atwood, carece aparentemente de la estructura social del amor. Este hecho convertiría el orden general de dicho mundo en inverosímil, ya que no representa las estructuras sociales que conforman el mundo real efectivo. El artículo pretende demostrar mediante el análisis de la microestructura que, aunque ocultas, las alusiones al amor están presentes en este mundo distópico, lo que lo convierte en inteligible y significativo

The dystopian possible worlds are characterized by the almost absolute absence of fictional components related to love. That makes them uninhabitable. In Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale the possible world appears to lack the social structures of love. This fact would make its world´s general order incredible because it does not represent the social structures that constitute the effective real world. Through microstructural analysis, the article pretends to demonstrate, that although hidden, love allusions are present in this dystopian world, which make it intelligible and significant.
