The present study stems from the interest of deeping in the study of psychological wellbeing (PW), and to try to understand which are the fundamental coping strategies which explain it. Some of these variables could be Locus of Control (LC) and Constructive Thinking (CT). Many investigations have proved the relationship between coping strategies and LC (Oros, 2005), CT (Contretras, Chávez y Aragón, 2012) and PW (Salotti, 2006). For that, the first necessity is to create a multidimensional instrument of LC (Brenlla y Vázquez, 2010) and to analyze the relationships between LC, CT and PW for, after, to construct explanatory model of PW. The sample, which has been accessed through snowball, is composed by 72 university students. To create the LC scale, Rotter’s one (1971) translated by Vallejo (1980) has been adapted and an exploratory factor analysis has been carried out, finding out a factorial structure with five factors. At the same time, it has been demonstrated relationships with empirical support through this scale, although sex differences have not. On the other hand, it has been found a direct relationship between PW and CT through Pearson correlations, although between LC and these two variables has not. However, it has been found relationships between the various factors of these variables. Based on the results of the regression analysis, it has not been found explanation capacity of neither sex nor LC about the variance of PW, but this is explained by CT. Finally, the results obtained from the means of CT of the sample, indicate that university youth rate less in these variable, having because of that a more destructive thinking, idea which was already exposed by Epstein (1998).eng
