Y hablar de libertad de expresión es hablar de responsabilidad, de ética, de deontología profesional. Es, en definitiva, examinar el papel del periodista como comunicador. Y uno de los aspectos que mide la fiabilidad de la labor del periodista viene dada por la selección y uso adecuado de las fuentes de información que maneje. La sociedad tiene derecho a ser informada con verdad y honestidad y es, desde esa relación fuentes-periodistas-sociedad, donde tiene que emerger la figura del periodista responsable. Éste debe valorar las consecuencias y efectos de su actuación, debe validar su profesión no sólo de cara a sí mismo, a la realización de sus capacidades sino también y, muy especialmente, de cara a su relación con los demás.Freedom of expression, gathered fundamental right in our Constitution, is the frame that must put into context the use of the sources of intelligence by the journalists. Talking about freedom of expression therefore is to talk about responsibility, ethics, and professional deontology. It is, definitely, to examine the role of the journalist as a communicator. And one of the aspects that measures the reliability of the labor of the journalist comes given by the selection and suitable use of the sources of information that he handles. The society has right to be informed with the truth and with honesty and it is here, from the relation sources-journalists-society, where the figure of the responsible journalist has to emerge.
