Sobre este trasfondo y para redescubrir y calibrar la importancia de la verdad como misión esencial de la Universidad, el artículo intenta describir en primer lugar la situación cultural presente en relación con la verdad; indaga, en un segundo momento, en un sentido de verdad que se enmarca en el orden del amor —y no sólo del pensamiento—; y finalmente justifica por qué la Universidad sólo puede ser tal en la medida en que se dedica a buscar, encontrar y comunicar la verdad en una tensión y con un ímpetu que tienen que darse precisamente en el orden del amor.Although it should be evident, the necessary relation between University and Truth is frequently obscured by the relativistic tendencies of our times and by the primacy of the practical and the useful. Against this background, and in order to rediscover and measure the importance of Truth as the essential mission of the University, the present article intends, first, to describe the contemporary cultural circumstances in relation to Truth; and, second, to explore a sense of Truth within the order of love —and not only within the order of thought.
