Dedication, recognition and the Aut-Aut ethics as intangible.', Scientific Journal of Applied Social and Clinical Science, vol. 5, N.º 3. https://doi.org/10.22533/at.ed.2165325200212764-2216https://hdl.handle.net/10641/7395This paper is part of a study whose main objective has been to verify the dedication needs, recognition, and professional ethics of the human team of scientific journals in the Latin American communication environment. A brief review will be made of the roles, the time spent on these activities, possible rewards, critical aspects, and a brief proposal for future action. The hypothesis is based on the idea that, since quality is not possible without quantity, it is necessary to reflect on the time dedication required by the teams of scientific journals, the difficulties they face, and the belief that there is still no adequate correlation with the necessary professional and academic recognition in most cases. To corroborate this hypothesis, in-depth interviews have been conducted with some of the agents involved in the 50 journals studied, and a survey has been carried out to gather initial data for a preliminary field exploration. As initial results, it is verified that recognition is still below what should be granted and the time dedication that should be recognized, except in rare cases. The data indicate a high time dedication that exceeds the academically and personally assigned and valued time for these functions. On the other hand, it is deduced from the surveys that the work of the journal teams should still obtain greater recognition in most private, public, and accreditation bodies. After studying the collected data, surveys, and interviews, the main conclusion is that, for participants in scientific journal teams, there is an ethical reason for their dedication that exceeds expectations of academic and professional recognition and surpasses potential economic benefits and incentives. It is proposed that, even so, keeping the balance of satisfaction positive concerning rewards, public and private institutions should make a change in the valuation of this work to avoid risking the quality of publications and, therefore, the development of knowledge being posed not as an Aut-Aut where ethics always wins, but as a personal choice that ends with the involvement and performance of the scientific journal teams.19776249spahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Revistas científicasEquipoética como intangibleCiencias sociales (miscelánea)ComunicaciónArtes y Humanidades GeneralSiSiStaff at Revistas de Investigación Científica.
