The concept of Aristotelian chrematistics is analysed, and two developments are pointed out that, without denying its fundamentals, scholastic thought carries out. The first, related to the division of property from a primitive state of common possession of all things. The second concerning profit in the context of commercial activity. In both cases, the labour performed constitutes a legitimate title of appropriation (a principle that is absent in Aristotle), which will give rise to John Locke’s influential theory of property.11155642spahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Accumulation of wealthChrematisticsEconomic thought of scholasticismProfitTradeEstudios culturalesArtes plásticas y escénicasHistoriaTeoría de la literaturaSiSiLa moral natural de la acumulación de riqueza : de la escolástica a LockeThe Natural Law of the Accumulation of WealthFrom Scholasticism to Lockejournal articleopen access10.13035/H.2025.13.01.20https://www.scopus.com/pages/publications/105008932809https://www.scopus.com/pages/publications/105008932809#tab=citedBy
