In the era of communication, we live under the imperative of immediacy, a contradiction in terms that suggests the absence of mediation. Consumption time is studied as intangible in the streaming era. Immediacy in communication implies the disappearance of that which mediates between reality and what is communicated, eliminating analysis, study, thought and reflection. The media no longer mediate, but rather distribute without constructing anything between the real and the broadcast. The literature review shows that immediacy is present in various disciplines and is a widely recognized phenomenon in the field of communication, with manifestations such as binge-watching and speed-watching. Thus, the main objective of this research is to analyze Netflix consumption data to try to confirm whether these new accelerated viewing techniques, currently present and rapidly rooted, especially among younger generations, can be demonstrated quantitatively. To this end, a quantitative approach will be used, applying a statistical analysis to the data extracted on the consumption of serialized audiovisual content during the second half of 2023 and the first half of 2024. Likewise, the figures obtained from this analysis show a significant decrease in the consumption time devoted to new titles released from 2023 onward, unlike other types of content viewed in this time span but released before the study period.
