Abstract

The human being is defined by time; temporality constitutes our most vital asset. The study of temporality is therefore essential for a comprehensive understanding of any human reality. This article aims to examine the impact of the atomised conception of time, characteristic of social networks such as TikTok and Instagram, on young people’s construction of individual identity. Drawing on Bergson’s notion of time as vital continuity, it explores how the disintegration of temporal continuity and the absolutisation of the instant have contributed to a fragmentation of identity and a diminished sense of meaning.
