EL CONFLICTO EN TIEMPOS DE CAMBIO : LA OBRA DE PANTOJA Y EL DEBATE MORAL EN LA SOCIEDAD DE LOS FINALES DE LA DINASTÍA MING
(2023) Peng, Haitao; FACULTAD DE DERECHO, EMPRESA Y GOBIERNO
This paper provides a different perspective to view the cultural dialogue between China and Europe. The author put this communication in the context of the Chinese intellectual history and analyzes the urgent need of the Chinese literati in late Ming period, which was the solid moral motivation to bring about moral enhancement effectively. Precisely because of this need, the book Septem Victoriis 七克 (Qike) of the Spanish Jesuit Diego de Pantoja caused extensive attention among the Chinese literati. Some people accepted that the mindset of “getting rewards for doing good” could attract people in a utilitarian way and thus provided moral motives for the commoners. Nevertheless, there were still many Chinese elites believed that the idea of getting heavenly rewards violates the basic principles of Confucian ethics.

NON-DIVERSIFIABLE RISK IN VALUE AND GROWTH STRATEGIES. TIME TRENDS AND PERSISTENCE ANALYSIS
(2025) Monge, Manuel; Jordá, Jorge Aracil; Infante, Juan; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno
This study aims to provide an analysis of trends and resistance dynamics of the growth and value investment strategies, particularly in terms of aggressiveness to market risk, using the market factor of beta. Current ARFIMA (p, d, q) models are analyzed to capture the idea of the fractional integration of these strategies and the beta coefficient of the same in Dow Jones, Nasdaq, S&P 500, and the New York Stock Exchange. The findings suggest that there are substantial variations in the two strategies, with growth strategies being more prone to fluctuations and shocks in the market, whereas value strategies are strong and resilient. These differences are further supported by beta sensitivity analysis, where growth beta was found to be more risk-sensitive and value beta was found to carry a stabilizing influence, which would decrease return volatility over time.

Business cycle, interest rate and money in the euro area : A common factor model
(2014-08-14) Cendejas, José Luis; Castañeda, Juan E.; Muñoz, Félix Fernando; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno
In this paper we model and analyze the contemporaneous correlation between interest rate, monetary aggregates, production and prices (of consumer goods, financial assets and real estate) of the euro area. To do this, firstly we estimate a common cyclical factor by means of an unobserved component model with the common factor located in variations in the underlying growth rates, that is, accelerations and decelerations of the variables. The variables mentioned share a significant cyclical factor being all procyclical except for narrow money. Finally we offer an explanation of this empirical finding based on the monetary policy strategy of interest rate pegging followed by the European Central Bank. In this regard, the shared cyclical information suggests (a) that inflation should be considered as a phenomenon that affects the whole economy, and therefore all prices, and (b) that monetary indicators such as monetary aggregates may contribute to the assessment of inflationary risks throughout the cycle.

El crowdfunding como herramienta de financiaciÓn inmobiliaria : Realidades y problemas
(2021-10) de Almeida, María Goñi Rodríguez; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno
In this paper, we are going to examine a new form of financing or investment in the real estate market, and of the real estate patrimonial operations that are generated in it, as crowdfunding is: collective or participatory financing system. It is a special type of crowdfunding, with its own characteristics that raises legal questions and problems still unresolved due to the novelty of its regulation and its recent appearance on the real estate scene. In this paper, we intend to define the restricted concept of real estate crowdfunding, and examine its main characteristics, advantages and risks for the investor, to conclude if it is a form of real estate financing that is really alternative to traditional ones or it still cannot replace them though, due to the legal questions that it still raises that may generate legal insecurity for land loans.

LA LENTA PERO IMPARABLE TRANSMUTACIÓN DEL ARRENDAMIENTO DE VIVIENDA URBANA Hacia un contrato aleatorio y regulado
(2024-04) De Almeida, María Goñi Rodriguez; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno
Renting apartments in Spain is becoming a risky, random business, where the term and the pecuniary consideration for the transfer of use of the property are increasingly uncertain, and at the same time there is a smaller margin of autonomy of the will of the parties to these contracts. This is due to the high risk of non-payment and the difficulty of expelling the delinquent tenant from the occupied property, especially if it is their habitual residence, and they are economically vulnerable. The legislator is also imposing limits on rent increases, increases in the term initially agreed upon through forced extensions, and slowdowns in eviction processes. Spanish legislation is permissive towards the tenant and penalizes the landlord, who prefers not to rent out their homes due to the risks they face, even with the danger of having them empty. This paper analyzes the main risks to which the private owner is subjected that are transforming the nature of housing rental and measures are proposed to promote this rental, always starting from the rental contract and from the point of view of civil law.

Posfeminismo y transhumanismo : una relación histórica
(2021-05-01) Crespo Garrido, Sagrario; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno
Gender post-feminism or ″gender ideology″ is a revolution against man that denies the existence of his human nature, and promotes a homogenized world with interchangeable roles without sexual distinction. As man has been transforming the world with technology and depending on it, he has been changing himself and we get to the point that, when faced with a machine and a human being, we opt for the machine because the human being seems imperfect to us. The transhumanist ideology as an overcoming of the human supposes the dehumanization of man. It is not that we only transform into other beings, but we could end up despising the human. Does a totally artificial world await us? The key question we have to ask ourselves is what perspective of man does transhumanism have? What are we to this ideology? Will it show the happiness of man?

Air Pollution in 88 US Metropolitan Areas : Trends and Persistence
(2026-01) Caporale, Guglielmo Maria; Carmona-González, Nieves; Carmona González, Nieves; Gil-Alana, Luis Alberiko; Gil Alana, Luis A.; Romero-Rojo, María Fátima; Romero Rojo, María Fátima; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno; Universidad Francisco de Vitoria
This paper analyses trends and persistence in air pollution levels in 88 US metropolitan areas using fractional integration methods. The results indicate that the differencing parameter d is higher than 0 in 38 of the series, which supports the hypothesis of long-memory behavior and implies that, although the effects of shocks are long-lived, they eventually die out. The highest degrees of persistence are found in the Fresno, Bakersfield, Bradenton and San Diego areas. On the whole, the gathered evidence indicates that regional differences in pollution levels are significant, with factors such as industrialisation history and extreme weather events playing a crucial role in their degree of persistence. This suggests that, in order to tackle pollution more effectively, federal environmental policies, such as the Clean Air Act, should be complemented by more targeted ones taking into account local characteristics.

Exploring the role of generic competencies in employability and academic performance of students of psychology
(2024) de Dios Alija, Teresa; García, David Aguado; Sanz, Noemy Martín; Facultad de Derecho, Empresa y Gobierno; Facultad de Educación y Psicología
This paper analyses the relation between generic competencies of students of Psychology and their academic performance and employability. A sample of 43 students of Psychology in a Spanish university was used to measure their generic competencies, academic performance and employability. Correlational and regression tests were conducted to evaluate the relation between the variables. The generic competence 'adhering to principles and values' is positively related to employability, while the competencies 'achieve results/client satisfaction' and 'socialise and create networks' are positively related to academic performance. No significant relationship was found between academic performance and employability. Generic competencies favour both academic performance and employability. The competencies which influence only one of these aspects are different. Our research offers insights to teacher learning communities to engage in a profound reflection on the inclusion of methodologies that facilitate the development of competencies related to academic performance and those most in demand in the labour market within the field of Psychology. Generic competencies are essential part of the education of students of Psychology. These competencies are institutionally developed with the aim of orienting the education of psychologists towards their future professional practice. It is essential to understand how the development of generic competencies may facilitate academic performance and employability of graduates in Psychology.
