Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the complete set of prose works by María de San José, a disciple of Saint Teresa, through a thorough review of the preserved titles and testimonies. To achieve this, the study adopts an approach based on textual pragmatics, focusing on the concept of sisterhood; as we intend to demonstrate, this concept serves as the origin and cause of many of the discursive choices that shape her prose. By examining the context of creation revealed in her texts, the paper establishes a classification of her works that transcends the generic laxity typical of convent writing, thereby highlighting thematic and formal constants in her writing. Among them, the use of interlocution and her preference for the humanistic dialogue genre stand out, both of which constitute a rhetorical reflection of sisterhood in the Carmelite's writing.
