Item type: Item , El léxico de la verdad según Francisco Suárez en el proemio de la Disputatio metaphysica VIII. : A propósito de las así llamadas teorías de la postverdad(2026-01-13) Prieto López, Leopoldo José; Departamento de HumanidadesEl presente artículo analiza principalmente el léxico y los conceptos del proemio de la Disputación metafísica VIII de Suárez, titulada “Sobre la verdad o lo verdadero en cuanto es pasión del ente”. En ella presenta Suárez tres tipos de verdad, a saber, la verdad de la significación, la verdad del conocimiento y la verdad del ser, en un orden de fundamentación que va de la palabra al conocimiento y del conocimiento a la cosa. Dado, por otro lado, que una comprensión cabal de esta temática requiere un encuadramiento en la historia del pensamiento, el artículo presenta unas consideraciones preliminares que pretenden ayudar a la contextualización y mejor comprensión de dicha temática.Item type: Item , Soledad, filiación y don de piedad. Gould, valorando positivamente el alcance del principio de los llamados “magisterios no superponibles” y su toma de posición crítica sobre la pretendida inconciliabilidad entre ciencia y fe, a pesar de la ausencia en su pensamiento de la filosofía como mediación imprescindible entre las referidas instancias epistemológicas. Secondly, and without being exhaustive, we shall seek to identify some of the main challenges posed by emerging sciences in the 21st century, specially with an eye to convergent technologies or NBICs (nanotechnology, biotechnology, informatics and cognitive sciences). In this article we intend to highlight their fundamental similarities in their metaphysical proposal, particularly on the topic of the analogy of "esse", as well as show the main differences between them. To do this, after an introduction that provides the proper context, we will proceed to analyze the individual proposals of each one to establish the appropriate comparisons in the conclusions.Item type: Item , MODELOS ONTOLÓGICOS Y TEORÍA DE CONJUNTO. UNA INTERPRETACIÓN DE LA “PARADOJA DE RUSSELL”(2025-12-27) de Nigris, Francesco; Departamento de HumanidadesIn the antinomy known as Russell's paradox, a logical contradiction emerges that had already been mantanined by sophistry in the face of the ontological discourse that has founded Western philosophy. We argue, on the basis of a study of the logic underlying Cantor's set theory, whose ontological discourse supports infinite ontic variations, that the antinomy arises if consistency and completeness, which belong to a formal logical model inspired by the Aristotelian principle of non-contradiction, are admitted as truth conditions. This interpretation is confirmed by a brief analysis of Russell's theory of types.Item type: Item , Personalismo y familia : un diálogo entre Mounier y Wojtyla(2025-12) Rodríguez Díaz, Jaime; Departamento de HumanidadesThis article reflects on the opportunity to consider the family as a specific subject of personalism. It is articulated as a dialogue around four questions: the person-community binomial, the meaning of sexual difference, the relationship between person and family, the relationship between family and State. It studies Mounier’s A personalist Manifesto (1936) and Karol Wojtyla’s essay The Family as a Communion of persons (1974-75). It highlights the similarities between both authors, mainly the critique of individualism from the centrality of the person, and love as the structural principle and transcendent vocation of the human being. The differences have to do with the interpretation that each author makes of sexual difference and the meaning of family bonds. The author of the article suggests the development of communitarian personalism through the reflection on the duality male-female and the family structure of the person.Item type: Item , The Symposium of Methodius of Olympus and the Critique of Fatalism(2025-09-09) Tomaselli, Davide; Departamento de HumanidadesThis study examines a specific section of the Symposium by Methodius of Olympus, a Church Father of the late 3rd and early 4th centuries, focusing on the critique of astrological fatalism. In Methodius’s Symposium, the virgin Thecla offers a series of rational arguments against the notion of an inescapable fate governing human events, emphasizing the primacy of human free will and responsibility. Notably, Thecla’s refutation of fatalism relies almost entirely on classical philosophical reasoning—citing Homer and echoing Platonic thought—rather than on Scripture, thereby engaging pagan cultural ideas on common ground. The paper highlights how Thecla’s excursus on fate, unique within the dialogue, underscores the centrality of human freedom in Methodius’s theology.
