Abstract

The sacraments are not just a narrow area of theological study, but first and foremost a place of access to the revealed Mystery. One can thus speak of a sacramental method whose main features include, first, to take account of the human condition in light of the encounter with the Risen One; second, to achieve knowledge in as much as it narratively travels through the history laid open by Jesus; and third, to take on a relational, communitarian perspective that makes it possible to know its object. This sacramental approach that includes Creation from its origins also sheds light on the philosophical effort to understand the world and history. This approach enables the discovery of the key for an evangelical proposal that can be understood by our contemporary culture, impoverished as it is in its appreciation of symbols.
