Abstract
This article examines the strategic evolution of the United States–Israel relationship, focusing on the structural mechanisms that have sustained Israel’s role as a privileged proxy in the Middle East. It argues that the consistent guarantee of Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge (QME) has empowered the country to act with increasing autonomy, sometimes in tension with U.S. regional interests. Drawing on a historical and geopolitical analysis, the study explores how shifts in global power dynamics, domestic political pressures in the U.S., and the consequences of the 2023 Gaza War have opened a new phase in the bilateral alliance marked by asymmetry and renegotiation.
